Edward K. Aldag, Jr., launched Medical Properties Trust, Inc., (NYSE: MPW) in 2003 as the only healthcare company of its kind. Today, MPT is the world’s preeminent source of capital for hospitals, with a portfolio of almost 400 facilities across the United States, Western Europe, and South America.
Under Aldag’s leadership, MPT’s assets have grown to more than $15 billion, and the company now owns approximately 39,000 hospital beds.
Aldag serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Children’s of Alabama, one of the nation’s leading hospitals for children, and as a Director and member of the investment committee of the Alabama Children’s Hospital Foundation. He also serves as a Board Member of Mitchell’s Place, the Birmingham Education Foundation and the American Sports Medicine Institute, and as an Executive Committee Member of the Birmingham Business Alliance. He also is a guest lecturer at the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
A member of the World Presidents Organization, Aldag was named CEO of the Year among mid-sized companies by the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) and received the Groundbreakers Award from Birmingham Magazine in 2013. For the past four years, the BBJ has cited him as one of “Birmingham’s Most Influential Executives.”
A native of Eufaula, Alabama, Aldag graduated from the University of Alabama, where he majored in finance.

As a co-founder of MPT, R. Steven Hamner has helped the company become the leading source of real estate capital for hospitals. Assets now exceed $15 billion in value, including almost 400 hospital properties across the U.S., Western Europe, and South America.
Hamner has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since September 2003, and he was elected director shortly before the company’s 2005 IPO (NYSE: MPW).
From October 2001 through March 2004, Hamner was the Managing Director of Transaction Analysis LLC, a company that provided interim and project-oriented accounting and consulting services to commercial real estate owners and their advisors. From June 1998 to September 2001, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of United Investors Realty Trust, a publicly traded REIT. For the 10 years prior to becoming an officer of United Investors Realty Trust, he was employed by predecessors to the global accounting and consulting firm known today as EY, where he was a Certified Public Accountant.
Hamner and his wife, Glenda, have three grown children.

Rosa Williams serves as Senior Vice President of Operations at Medical Properties Trust. Prior to joining the company, she served as the Chief Financial Officer of a Birmingham hospital that was a joint venture partnership among 52 physicians. For 15 years, Williams worked at Encompass Health (formerly HealthSouth Corp.), where she served in various operational roles in the ambulatory divisions, including surgery, diagnostic imaging, and physical therapy. Additionally, she served seven years in the finance department at another Birmingham hospital. She began her career at Arthur Andersen & Co.
Williams received her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama and is a Certified Public Accountant. She serves on the Board of Directors for Grace House Ministries, Jones Valley Teaching Farm, Red Mountain Theatre Company, and Prescott House.
Rosa is married to David and together they have six children and thirteen grandchildren.

Before joining MPT in 2008, J. Kevin Hanna worked as Controller of Fruit of the Loom, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, and Russell Corp., a global consumer products company. He started his career in the Birmingham, Alabama, office of Ernst & Young LLP in 1995, where he spent eight years auditing public and private companies, primarily in the retail, distribution, and consumer products industries. Hanna received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Hanna serves on the board of the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
He and his wife, Julianne, have two daughters.

Larry Portal serves as Senior Vice President – Senior Advisor to the CEO and oversees many of the Company’s strategic initiatives, including complex transaction structuring, tenant restructuring, raising capital, and ESG. Prior to joining MPT in 2019, Portal was a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, guiding REIT clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, tax structuring, and IPO advisory. Portal began his career practicing tax at Ernst & Young and was also head of Tax for Vornado Realty Trust from 1997-2002.
Portal earned a B.S. in Accounting from Yeshiva University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is involved in a number of New York-based charitable organizations.
Portal and his wife, Andrea, have four children and two grandchildren.

Charles R. Lambert joined MPT in 2006 as Director of Finance before advancing to his current role. Prior to that, Lambert was a Vice President and Assistant Treasurer at a publicly traded insurance company and also worked in the financial advisory services group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Lambert earned a B.A. in Communications from Wake Forest University and an MBA from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Alabama Council on Economic Education, Junior Achievement of Alabama, and Smile-A-Mile.
Lambert and his wife, Leigh Anne, have three children.

R. Lucas Savage serves as Vice President – Head of Global Acquisitions and is responsible for MPT’s extensive acquisitions efforts. Based in MPT’s headquarters, Luke oversees the acquisitions teams in our Birmingham, New York, Luxembourg, and London.
Prior to MPT, Savage was a Regional Controller for Plano, Texas-based Triad Hospitals and later served as assistant Chief Financial Officer at a Triad/CHS hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Before joining the healthcare industry from Ernst & Young, he spent more than six years in public accounting in the telecom and e-commerce industries.
Savage is involved, along with MPT, in supporting the Luxembourg organization Chaîne de l’Espoir, which helps children receive medical care.
Savage holds a B.B.A in accounting from Harding University in Arkansas, and is a certified public accountant. He is married to Gina with three children.
